Year 7

The move from primary to secondary school can be a great move for many, but can also be challenging too.  We recognise the importance of supporting this move and have created a variety of resources for Year 7 students and teaching staff.

There are 3 sessions in total; each one comes with videos, activity sheet and a session plan for school staff or group leaders.

Topic: Friendship

One of the key topics when starting in Year 7, is friendships.  Some students will have started knowing others., some students know nobody.  Making friendships takes time and effort, and its important that we don’t jump to conclusions without taking time to get to know people.

The session plan will explain how to use all the resources and videos available here.

Topic: Identity

As students start in Year 7, they are becoming more aware of what people think and say about them; peer pressure to conform to a particular look or behaviour becomes more prevalent.  Understanding our own identity, and considering the correct people or things that should influence this becomes even more vital for a positive understanding of who we are.

The session plan will explain how to use all the resources and videos available here.

Topic: Perseverance

As students continue in Year 7, there is a continuing need to persevere.  To persevere with finding and developing new friendships; persevering with learning new subjects; and perservering  with life!  This is not just an important skill for school, but one that is important for all areas and aspects of life, no matter what age you are.

The session plan will explain how to use all the resources and videos available here.

Other Assembly Resources

These resources have been made with primary school and lower end of KS3 assemblies  in mind.  Through the video assemblies, students will have opportunity to reflect on a variety of topics, how this may relate to their life, and have fun through the games, quizzes and activities too!  Use them either as class-based or whole school assemblies, or in any other way that may be beneficial to you.

Now you have had a look at all the resources, and hopefully watched the videos and had a go at the activity sheets … we’d love to know what you think!

Why not tell us the things that have been helpful, what you have enjoyed, and if there is any way that we can make it even better!  We’ll even try and include your comments on the website!
